I'm happy to announce the release of a project I worked on - People Take Warning! Murder Ballads and Disaster Songs, 1913 - 1938. There are three CDs of vintage recordings dealing with natural disasters, industrial accidents, and heinous crime.
It's a beautiful package with notes by Tom Waits and Hank Sapoznik, remastering by Chris King, and design by Susan Archie. I did most of the photo research, and it was pretty cool digging into historic images of the Wreck of the Old 97, Casey Jones, and other stories I think of existing more in myth than in actual history.
